I should have left some info on aidans condition. He has had 4 very bad bouts of hives. One from peanut butter ,3 unknown. He has also been to the er for facial swelling, which we think was caused by his grandpas dog.I have been carring an epi pen and benadryl since the er vist and yesterday i ordered a medical braclet. He rated a 5+ for peanuts on his blood test,a 4+ for cats(which we have 4 of and i am now trying to find homes for)and a 3+ for dogs.I have an appt. with an allergist next week.

Welcome! I think we understand about the meltdown -- it's a life-changing diagnosis. But you'll learn a lot and it will be okay. That's great that you'll be seeing an allergist soon, and that you've got an epi.

Boy oh boy do I (probably all here!) know about 'the meltdown' you speak of. It stinks, it really does. It can be so difficult to begin to change your surroundings and how you live your daily life...at least at first. Just know that with time, things will get easier--become more second nature. I'm sorry you had to join us (due to allergy) but I'm glad you're here. There is much support and knowledge here...just ask!

WELCOME!!!!

Welcome! We all know about meltdowns!! I've had several since finding out about DD's FA's! And it seems they just keep on coming-the allergies and the meltdowns!! Hang in there. You've found the right place.

Welcome, I hope you can find some helpful information here. Yes, meltdown and just utter terror.
I was even more terrified once I realized that I had to read labels....I was quite alarmed about how much food contains nuts and is manufactured with nutty food.
I did feel more empowered once I felt more confident in my knowledge of food allergies.
I felt even better when my DH and I sat down and lined out our comfort zone. We also agreed that we would NEVER forget his epi pen, that we would both do our very best to be sure our son would never be in jeopardy because we weren't careful or responsible with teaching him how to stay safe or about carring his medication.
Welcome....
