We are attending a family event soon which will have a hospitality suite at the hotel for out of town guests. I am being asked for food suggestions for the host to purchase for the suite that are safe for my peanut/nut allergic child. Please help--I am struggling with suggestions and need to let them know ASAP since they are so kind to accomodate us. Below is the e-mail from the host when I asked about what they would like to put in the hotel hospitality suite.
[i]Want people to be able to just go in and grab some things---cookies, snack foods (pretzels, tortilla chips, potato chips
Frito-lay labels well. We use their tortilla and potato chips.
Utz also good for pretzels and chips.
Tootsie roll and all companies related to them for candy. Check the tootsie roll website. Includes Andes mints, junior mints, candies made by Charms, sugar daddies, sugar babies, Dots...
Cascadian Farms now makes a few kinds of granola bars that are safe. They also make some that are nutty so must very carefully read labels.
Keebler seems to be labeling well for cross contact. They have some possible cookie and cracker options. We have never actually eaten any yet.
We have safely eaten Muir Glen salsas and Tostito salsa.
Lenders frozen bagels and Shaw's or Philadelphia brick shaped cream cheese.
We have safely eaten FritoLay dips.
Boar's Head deli meat.
Terra Chips
Cape Cod chips if made in Hyannis, MA
All labels must be checked. We have used most of the above, but I still always check labels.

Hershey's is a GREAT labeler. Wheat Thins, Rice Krispy treats, goldfish, Chips Ahoy, NutriGrain bars, most fruit rollups that we have found. I'd think fruit and veggies and cheese would be fine, assuming that the hotel prepares it safely-- and if they have asked you for all this, I'll bet they are conscientious. I hope that this works out.
