Well, I did it and the cake turned out great! I used a Wilton pan, the Wacky cake and Cake Craft colors in Betty Crocker Buttercream frosting. It wasn't very hard to do but took about 5 hours since it was the first cake I ever decorated this way.
Just wanted to share!

Wow! Super cake--I'm sure it was tasty, too. I'm envious of your decorating skills. Fortunately, my kids aren't picky

OK, how's this? You have to put "" after your URL.

Great cake! You said it was the first you did this way--I bet your hand got tired squeezing the bag. I know that used to happen to me when I first started decorating cakes, many years ago.

what is the wacky cake? Your cake turned out beautiful. My son's birthday is in January and I would like to do Bob the Builder. I just don't know if I have it in me to do this.

Thanks everybody! I really posted the pic to let you know it can be done and to give someone else the inspiration to make a Wilton cake for their PA (or EA) child.
How many people did the cake feed? The molds don't look that big.

The cake fed about 12 people. The wacky cake is an eggless cake that is pretty popular (we deal with an egg allergy too). Do a search here and the recipe will turn up. I did double the recipe I used to make it a 2 layer round (or 1- 9x13 rectangle). Per the Wilton instructions, I cut off the little dome that formed on the cake before turning it out of the pan. That trimming was minimal and definitely didn't equal a piece of cake.
I, too, was worried I wouldn't have enough cake so I baked a blueberry pie for the adults. We all ate the Cars cake!
I forgot to thank Joeybeth who helped me when I asked about Wilton cakes! Thanks!
