Before Cayley's PA diagnosis, her favourite lunch was a bowl of "squiggly" noodles, made without the seasoning packet, to which I added a bunch of cooked vegetables. She's been pestering me lately for "squiggly" noodles, but there is a warning on the package:

"Allergy Information: Manufactured in a facility that may process egg products, fish/shellfish, nuts and sulphites."

I would like to know if there is anyway to contact the manufacturer about whether the warning applies to 1) just the noodles, 2) just the seasoning packet or 3) the entire package. Trouble is, there is no phone #, address or contact info on the package. It just says "Imported by Anderson Watts Ltd. Vancouver, Canada".

Does anyone have more info on this product? That is the biggest "Cover Your B*tt" warning label I've ever seen! I'm still avoiding the product, but I would like to give her the noodles alone again, if I could. Please help if you can!

Hi Cayley's Mom,
I don't know anything about that product, but just in case you can't use the product, there is a noodle out there called Non-Skid spaghetti. It's really squigly and my kids get a real kick out of it. I've seen it manufactured by the Pastene Co, but I'm sure it is found in other brands as well. Hope this helps!

Cayley's Mom, I have actually read somewhere else on this board about Mr. Noodles not being "safe", but, of course, I don't think it was specific enough as to whether it was the noodles or seasoning packet.

It's interesting that you should bring this up. I was going to go into your Reactions thread where Cayley recently had a reaction from a pb kiss. My DH had some Mr. Noodle soups given to him. Of course, I put them up higher than high in the house because you know my "comfort zone" re "may contain" or unsafe products. I would have preferred that they actually left the house. However, I do know that they are actually quite good and had some nieces that practically lived off them.

At any rate, DH had some for lunch yesterday.
Now, after the reaction happened with Cayley and you mentioned that your DH had a moustache, I mentioned the whole post to my DH, just in case he should ever have a pb chocolate bar or something while at work and also because he has a moustache.

Yesterday, after he consumed the Mr. Noodles, he IMMEDIATELY went upstairs and washed his face with soap, paying particular attention to his moustache, washed his hands and brushed his teeth. Let me tell you, I was pretty impressed, especially because this is only a "may contain" or "made in" product.

My reasoning for wanting to post this in your Reaction thread was because I felt your point needed to be reiterated and because I was so darned pleased with him (for a change! LOL! )

Best wishes!

Thanks Linda-Jo! That is the other problem - not being able to find a comparable "squiggly" product. Cayley's pretty underweight, and a pasta dish with olive oil and veggies has lots of calories - the only trouble is getting her to like different pasta shapes... KIDS! Picky, picky, picky... Does anyone know if this product is available in Canada? I'll have to check next time I'm shopping.

Cindy - tell your DH way to go! I was hoping *something* positive would come out of Cayley's experience, and it seems it has. Thanks for letting me know my post made a difference! Take care!

Hi Cayley's Mom,
My daughter LIVES on pasta!! It's the only thing I feel safe giving her! I was at the store today and I actually checked out that pasta. It's called 'Fusili' by Pastene, but I'm sure there is another maufacturer that makes it. There is also some called 'Rotini' or 'Twists' made by Prince, Muellers, or Ronzoni. These are squiggly but more bite size. I hope these brands are sold in Canada.

Cayley will be so happy! I found a safe Canadian brand of "squiggly" noodles, sold with a flavouring packet in a cellophane package!

I purchased a package of chicken-flavour Oriental noodles and soup mix from IGA last week. The brand name is "Smart Choice" which is carried by IGA and Sobey's Foods. It had no allergy warning, so I emailed the company at comment@iga.net with an inquiry about peanuts.

I received a phone call today from company representive, Claudette, who explained the product is manufactured in a peanut-free plant, so cross-contamination is not an issue.

The toll-free number for inquiries about this product is 1-888-821-5557. Sobey's Foods responded to the email.

Happy!
P.S. The HPP ingredient on the flavouring pouch is itemized (corn, soy, etc.), but I never use the pouch anyway, just the noodles.

I am very disgusted to the fact that there is no contact information, especially being Canadian, and it being a Canadian brand! Well who the heck is running this company and what is even in this product??? my son finds out he has an allergy by a bowl of soup, not to mention half the case is broken into crumbs. Who do you call? Who do you contact about customer inquiries, this is absolutely crazy and this company should be put out of buisness!!!! So frustrated to not even be able to speak to someone who is making millions of dollars off our childrens allegic reactions is absolutely inhumane, and will do anything I can to stop everyone I know from buying this product, and I am in the medical field, so beware, because you will be getting a written letter from the Canadian food safe and health manufacturing buro, this must be against the law, not to put contact information, and you will be held responsible for your actions!
