Hi everyone,
Just a note to let you know that Amercian Express posted the 25 Members Project semifinalists on their web site today, and "Find a Cure for Food Allergies" was not among them. In terms of number of nominations, we placed #37 out of 1190 projects, but number of nominations was only one of the criteria used in the selection process. Some projects with many more nominations than ours were not selected, and some with far fewer nominations were selected.
We tried our hardest, having reached out to hundreds of food allergy support groups, medical groups, food manufacturers, and others throughout the country and internationally. Although we are disappointed with the results, we hope that in some way we helped to increase awareness about food allergies and to encourage more funding for research.
"Thank you" again to those of you helped by nominating our project, posting a comment, spreading the message to others, or sending us a note of support. Your support meant a great deal to us.
Sincerely,
Paul Silverman and Fran Vecchio
(parents of a child allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, sesame, and mustard)
