Hi everyone. It's been quite a while since I've posted, but wanted to share results of Austin's repeat testing. As a recap, he got full body hives after eating pb for the first time at age 1. Testing revealed allergy to peanuts, egg, and pork, and sensitivity to milk, and some other things. Well, it's now a year later and I was REALLY thinking it would be good news - it wasn't He tested one step higher on his allergies to peanut and egg, and one step higher to milk which makes it now allergy too. He also tested 3+ - 4+ to shellfish and almost all tree nuts. Allergist then recommended CAP RAST - they did that one to peanut, egg, milk and pork. All were "manageable" except for peanut - he was, as the doc put it "off the scale" - "well over a class 6". So upsetting..... His "only" reaction to anything has been hives - he's never had any respiratory involvement and doesn't have asthma, so I'm trying to focus on that. The allergist is sending me copies of his testing so I can see the actual numbers. Guess we'll be dealing with this stuff forever Thanks for listening to this mom whine
Sorry to hear Lisa and I just went through the same thing. I last had my son skin tested in 1998 and he was a 4++ and he was 6 at the time. Mike is now 2 weeks away from 9 and we just did a CAP RAST. He is a 5 bordering a 6. It was 51.89. The high number doesn't really mean he will have a more severe reaction it only tells you the likelihood of a reaction. The likelihood is 95% yes that they will react but there is no way of knowing HOW they will react. Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about the test results LisaG. I recently also had my son retested with disappointing results. All those feelings of fear and sadness experienced from the first diagnosis come flooding back, and it takes a few days to begin to feel "normal" again. Chin-up LisaG, there is a lot of us in the same boat and a lot more to come. The nutty old world is going to have to change because the numbers of PA/TNA are just too high and climbing.
