Anyone else notice the time it takes?
Have you noticed the dates the USA recalls are initiated by the companies compared to when they are put out by the FDA?
Think this is safe???
For instance the recall on:
Kollar Cookies Recalls Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
initiated by Kollar Cookies by telephone on
December 7, 1999., according to safetyalerts.com (a private company not related to the FDA). Put out by the FDA (according to safetyalerts.com) on April 25, 2000
Here is a link to the page on safetyalerts.com on this recall so you can read the full text regarding the recall itself. http://www.safetyalerts.com/recall/f/00/287.htm
I would like to have you find out from the FDA why the delay (and if there actually is one) and post what you find here on this thread.
Do you think alerting us to a couple month old recall or alert is safe? Please explain.
Let us know your thoughts and/or what you find out if you work on this issue.
If there is a delay and if so is it due to a budget issue for the FDA? Do they need more money do the job? What is the reason or reasons? Is there a way to make it quicker and safer for us? What are the FDA's thoughts on this and how can we as a community help to make it happen.
By the way, This is not the only example we have seen.
Here is another example to check out: the Perry's Ice Cream Brand Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwiches Recalled
initiated by Perry's Ice
Cream Company Inc., by
telephone and visit
between March 8 and 13,
2000.
(FDA) today reported April 25, 2000

Chris,
Yes, I find this extremely frustrating. I know I put this on another tread in here someplace, but I also find the following iritating:
I always read ingredients at the grocery store; for everything we buy due to our PA daughter. I find it extremely frustrating to find a warning on a straight forward product that never carried one before. I have received some poor excuses such as we had to use up the old packaging from manufacturers.
To be honest with you, I don't believe some manufacturers will ever change; its the bottom line that counts $$$$$$$$$$$$.
Just my $.02
