Irresponsible rhetoric by Harvard social scientist

This morning I saw a reference to a recent article titled "This allergies hysteria is just nuts" in the British Medical Journal. The BMJ website requires one to purchase this article, so for the benefit of the PeanutAllergy.com community I'm posting a link:

This is not a scholarly piece, but is instead closer to trash journalism. The author, a social scientist at Harvard named Nicholas Christakis, uses a variety of rhetorical tricks to argue his case. Unfortunately I don't have time right now to rebut his piece. The main purposes of this post are to provide a link to the article and to make people aware of the piece. This is the same author who recently wrote a similar, less scholarly article in Time magazine.

I checked out the article. The guy is clueless.

But also pay attention to what he was complaining about. The school was not clueless and was doing everything it could to protect the children with the peanut allergies.
