This question has also developed from the breastfeeding and PA thread currently going on.
How many of us actually have family histories that involve absolutely NO allergies, food or environmental on both sides of the family of the parents of the PA child?
I definitely have allergies on my side of the family. My DH's family also has allergies on their side, but to a lesser degree than mine.
Also, all of our allergies, on both sides, are environmental. Their is no family history, on either side, of food allergies.

My husband has environmental allergies that developed when he was a teenager. I don't have any allergies of any kind. There is absolutely no history of food allergies on either side of our families.
Allergies allergies everywhere. When I was a kid, I was the only one in my family not taking a daily allergy pill. One sister took a little yellow pill, and one took a little blue pill. My husband's allergic to lots of environmental stuff and has asthma, and my father apparently used to be allergic to some foods. I have just developed environmental allergies and cat allergies in the last 10 years or so.
My husband seems to be allergic to some cats and dogs (I remember him having sneezing fits when we first met but not recently). I possibly have environmental allergies in the spring and fall that are fairly recent. That's all that I know about.
Neither my husband or I have allergies. The only family allergy is the one my father had. He was allergic to shellfish. Peggy
Cindy The only person with an allergy on either side of Nick's family tree is his maternal grandmother. She is allergic to EVERY antibiotic under the sun. I question if she is really allergic or just GI sensitive. Kim

No allergies of any kind on either side of the family. There is a story floating out there, however, about my great Aunt Leila's twin sister Deila. They say she choked on a peanut at two years old, so of course I am thinking maybe great Aunt Deila had a peanut allergy and in 1910 in Malvern, Arkansas who would recognize an anaphylactic reaction? And my son looks like that side of the family. Just my "out there" theory that if there has to be family history, maybe there is!!!
