Hello from Atlanta! I'm Tammy the mommy to 20 month old Amy. I came across this site a few days ago and what a huge help it has been! Amy has had eczema since 6 wks. of age(only a very mild case now). She also has peanut, milk, egg, soy, and citrus allergies. We found out about the PA four days ago when she had her first skin test. The allergist didn't s.t. her for the other nuts, he said to just stay away from all of them. I feel lucky that she has not had a bad reaction so far. I'm glad we were able to find out about the PA from a skin test rather than a near death reaction. I was very upset about the PA at first, because I've been told kids usually don't grow out of it. The other food allergies I can deal with because I really think one day she will not have them any more. Well, enough about allergies. Let me tell you a little bit more about us. I'm a stay home mom in suburban Atlanta that enjoys reading, scrapbooking, and spending time with family(especially my sweet Amy!) and friends. Amy is a active toddler that enjoys TelliTubbies, Barney and mommy reading as many books to her as possible.
Thank you all so much for the wonderful support you have shown me in the last three or four days. With the help and support from this site, I know I can handle living with PA.
Thanks again!
Tammy

Hi Tammy,
Welcome to the site! I too have found this site a great source of support. My PA son is almost 9. I did find out via a reaction. It was not lifethreatening but I was clueless as to what to do. You are so lucky to have a Dr. who took your seriously from the beginning. It took us about 1.5 years to get to an allergist. My Dr. just said to keep him away from what he was allergic to. I just didn't even know what questions to ask. I have two other sons neither of whom are PA.
Since being diagnosed my son has had three reactions from accidental exposures/cross contaminations.
