Got a call from my neice in Va Beach. She's coming up next weekend with her Girl Scout cookies. I placed my order of the Thin Mints and the Samoas?(coconut carmel). Anybody know if these are "safe."
I know of one company (baker) in North Carolina who is actually discontining its peanut product line, but in the mean time it runs all peanut products at the end of the shift week (Friday), and all equipmnet is thoroughly washed down (according to them), so they don't see it fit to include the peanut statement.
My 7 year old daughter is allergic and her cousin is the one selling the Girl Scout cookie.
Stay Safe.
You should double check the label when you get the cookies as there is more than one manufacturer.
L's Mom
ABC & Little Brownies Bakers are the two GS cookie manufacturers.
"Little Brownie Bakers" manufacturers the bulk of GS Cookies including Thin Mints; they are based in Louisville, KY. "Their" Thin Mints are produced on a safe & separate line specifically peanut & tree nut free. On the bottom of the box you will find their seal which is white circled in red w/the picture of a brownie face stamped "Little Brownie Bakers". Any questions, call 1-800-699-0695.
As for ABC, I was not able to get in touch w/anyone however, I did leave a message. You can call them at 1-800-626-2228.
Samoas from Little Brownie Bakers have a "May contain traces of Peanuts and Tree Nuts" located on the side of the box. You may need to call ABC if your niece's cookies come from them.
My livingroom is stacked to the ceiling w/GS cookies....ours here in AZ come from Little Brownie Bakers.
By the way, Girl Scouts is implementing safety measures for the food allergic in their new Safety-Wise Manual (Leader's Bible) this year. Please don't hesitate to consider having your daughter join. The AZ Council & I will be announcing our Food Allergy Patch Program hopefully by fall that will include Brownies. Something to also keep in mind when joining Girl Scouts; the patch program can be suggested to your daughter's Leader so that the whole troop will learn about food allergies & help her stay safe. I will post when we are ready to make the announcement.
Gotta go sell those cookies!
Stay safe!

Hi,
I just received a call from Ursula Rado with ABC Bakeries; her company also manufactures Samoas/Carmel DeLites (same cookie, different name in other states). She says theirs are peanut safe.
PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK THIS INFORMATION BY CALLING THE ABC REPRESENTATIVE:

Their manufacturer's seal is a red, white & blue box w/stars coming out the top & bottom stamped ABC. It can be view at GirlscoutcookiesABC.com. You can also gather recipes to use the cookies & find out in the links which states they distribute in on this website.
Please contact me through me e-mail if you find that the information provided is different so that I can edit my post if necessary.
Stay safe!

I just received a call from Ursula after checking with he about the "2004" batch of cookies, and she assured me that thin mints are still made in a safe facility (a dedicated line ), whereas SHORTBREADS ARE NOT
