Anybody aware of any patches that Brownies can earn while learning about food allergies? thanx!!
I just saw this under the be a pal program!! That's great!
When I called for info, they said this patch is only for girl scouts, not brownie scouts. I did pass the info on to our big sister troop, though.

But, Yes the patch is geared toward the older girls. However, I did this with a second year Brownie group with great results! I tweaked where necessary and added a 'requirement' that taught them about the epi-pen and they really "got it". Instead of the patches that are for the Junior and up age levels, I bought them the rubbery bracelets that are so popular now. If I do say so myself, they are the most allergy aware group of Girl Scouts I have ever seen! It is something they remember 3 years later and they all are very conscientious (sp?) when it comes to our Service Unit activities.

LilMansMom:
What do the bracelets say and where did you get them? I am also interested in doing this w/ 2nd year Brownies. thanks
That's a really great badge idea. I'll have to check and see if there's one similar for the Canadian Girl Guides.
dd7 pork rind allergy
ds 18 months PNA, fish
What about one for cub/boy scouts? Anyone know of this?
The bracelets say "FOOD ALLERGY P.A.L." and they come in a tiny ziploc bag with a testomonial inside.
I have a couple left if you'd like me to send you one to see.
You can purchase them from FAAN's website:

Yes! I had volunteered to help my daughter's troop work on the food allergy patch. Go to this link and scroll down to the bottom for information:

The troop leader had to sign off on the forms, but there was a lot of information provided to earn the badge. We had to send away for the badge because our local council didn't have these.
