I came across a bag of gourmet jelly beans in Walmart and read the label. I love jelly beans and I've not found a safe one for my sons until now. The brand is Gimbal's Fine Candies and their website claims "We're proud that our facility is free of many common food allergens. We are nut free, trans fat free, gelatin free, gluten free, dairy free, and egg free." Anyone else heard of them?

I e-mailed them to confirm the peanut-free as well and they sent a note back right away - no exposure to peanuts or nuts at all in any of their products. The jellybeans are great, too! (had to taste test them )

Thanks! I love the flavored jelly beans and fruit slices. I'll check our walmart for them and if they don't have them I'll order online. woohoo!!

I see that site (the allergy grocery site) only has the jelly beans and not the slices. I didn't even see the slices on Gimbal's website in pkgs (only in bulk boxes I believe) so I guess that's a no-go. If I can find the jelly beans at walmart I'll just get them. If anyone sees the fruit slices at any store or website in the US please post it.

I found the jelly beans at walmart. No fruit slices though so I might call gimbal's and see if there is anyone who sells them.

These products look just like ones you can get at www.notnutz.com . That site does get some of its candy from outside nutfree facilites, so it's very possible they get them from Gimbals (the items are really exactly alike). Anyway, notnutz *does* have the fruit slices, so you can order them there

Thanks-if it were for my kids I would probably shell out the $$ for the ones at notnutz.com but they have never tried them, may not like them, and I can't afford over 8.00 for shipping. I about choked paying over $3 a bag for the jelly beans at walmart.

DS went to a Harry Potter-themed birthday party yesterday, and for the Bert Bott's Every Flavor Beans (which are normally made by Jelly Belly, a no-no for PA folks), the mom had the Gimbal's. I hadn't remembered reading about them on the board, but the labeling was so incredibly clear:

Kosher--that got my attention, and I read further.
Nut/Peanut Free
Transfat Free
Gelatin Free (good for my vegetarian son)
Gluten Free
Dairy Free
Egg Free

I told him to go for it, and his smile was so big!!

These are some of the flavors: tirmisu, wow! chocolate, roasted marshmallow, bubblegum, baja mararitaa, strawberry cheesecake, buttered popcorn, cotton candy. Alas, no ear wax. But Dumbledore would be happy.

And we were thrilled. I thanked the hostess over and over. And over. She bought several bags at WalMart, and they were place throughout the house. It was a great party (butter beer was cream soda. The kids got their own robes, were sorted into Houses, got their own wands at Ollivaner's, got to take home their own goblets, etc.

I typically avoid Walmart like the plague. And the one they just built close to us killed many exquisite pine trees in the process--hundreds of them. I vowed never to step foot in that one. But I'll drive to another one to buy these jelly beans for DS. They're great.

The tiramisu and baja margarita are new flavors (only the last 2 bags I bought have those, and I buy a LOT of these jellybeans). They also have other new ones-blue hawaiian, java (yuck-dh and I both don't like them and they make the whole batch stink so I pick them out along with the licorice), chocolate, a couple of other 'alcoholic drink' related flavors, and I think a few more.

They just started carrying these at Cub Foods! I'm so happy to find jelly beans like Jelly Bellies that say "peanut-free" on the package. And they weren't even expensive. There were two other Gimbal's things, too, black licorice and something else. But I had to get those jelly beans.

My PA son and I are eating some of these jellybeans at this very moment.... they are yummy!!! I think they are better than jelly bellies. I buy them at Meijer.

Oh, Tidina, I think the java ones are just gross! LOL. But my DD likes them. Most of the flavors are great; they make for good entertainment with us all figuring out which ones we've got.

Gimbal's is so great. I e-mailed them to thank them for making their products peanut-free and stating it right on the package, and they sent me back a nice e-mail, asking me for my address and favorite jelly bean flavor for their records. Then they shipped me a big bag of jelly beans for free along with a brochure on all of their products! They have my loyalty for sure!

Thanks for posting this - I got them at Meijers (the jelly beans).

DD will be excitied as the Jelly Belly brand is so popular and not safe - she will love having all the flavors.

The buttered popcorn is my favorite (yes, I opened the bag while she is still at school - could not wait!)
