Nut-free Schools - Colorado

Hi everyone. I am new to the forum and am looking for some advice. My son is a kindergartener in a Colorado public school. The school has been very accomodating to my son's allergies, but I have significant fears daily about his allergies, as he is "off the charts" when it comes to a reaction. I was also just informed of the serious bullying that occurs with children with allergies, which literally brings me to tears. It is horrible to think of children potentially seriously hurting another child.

I don't want to turn this into a debate about children's rights, but I am very interested in learning how a school becomes nut-free - what is the process? What steps does it involve? Who do I go to for more information? The Principal? Has anyone successfully fought this battle? What advice can you offer me?

Thanks everyone!
