My son's allergist said supposedly Hersheys has manufacturing facilities in Canada that are peanut-free and only produce the Hersheys products that are without nuts. He said some of his patients have been able to order candy manufactured in these facilities but he didn't know where or how they ordered. Has anyone else heard of this and if so, do you know where/how I can order? I've left a message at Hersheys but have not heard back from anyone yet.

At Peanutfree planet you can get safe kit kats and milky ways - but I think they have a different name. Not sure if that is what he is talking about.

Thank you! I just found that website and Kit Kats are one of my son's favorites (before I realized the nut warning on them). Now I'm confused because I see the ones on there are made by Nestle and I know the ones I always see near us are made by Hersheys. I'm confused! I thought Kit Kat was a brand name like Kleenex for tissues but maybe it's just a type of candy bar! Maybe I'll give those a try, that might have been what the allergist was thinking of! Thanks again!

yes in Canada they are made by nestle. I have no idea why or how that is possible, but I remember there might be a few other things like that, I can't remember which foods. The folks at peanutfree planet are great. Just a warning the snack size ones are smaller than ours in the US, so don't be shocked. I was!

Vermont Nut Free company is great also. They make skippers that are like m&m's but a little fatter. They were my son's favorite candy before we were PA. so we buy a lot of them. We didn't love the canadian version of m&m's.

I believe Kit Kats are European but are licensed out to Hershey's and Nestle in the U.S. and Canada.
