Anyone have experience with Authentic Foods Flours?

I just found them online (http://authenticfoods.com/) and then called to ask about their products. The guy I spoke to said that all they process are their flours. And they mill, blend and package them themselves. They do have an almond meal but it is processed in a separate facility.

Anyone ever used them or heard anything about them? So far this is the only place I have found where I might get peanut/treenut/sesame free flours that are also gluten-free.

But I am nervous that they are too good to be true!

Are you looking to bake a cake or make cookies? If so, go to Cherrybrook Kitchen.com.

I have not used them but know of many gluten free people that love them. I can't speak for the other allergens-but it's my feeling that one need not worry as much with flours unless the company or facility also makes a peanut flour or other allergen flour.

I would second beli and say if you are looking for treats try out Cherrybrook Kitchen's mixes. We use them safely all the time.

If you are looking to make bread-maybe call the company again-see if you get a different person and see if the answers to your questions are still the same.

Hope that helps!
Ruth

I don't know Authentic Foods Flours.

Before my son outgrew his wheat allergy, we successfully used Bob's Red Mill gluten free flours (http://www.bobsredmill.com. We were also avoiding dairy, egg, peanut, tree nut and sesame at the time. You may want to contact them.

Thanks for the replies!

I am looking for all kinds of baking (bread, treats, etc . . .).

I had called Cherrybrook a few weeks ago but they said they could not guarantee against sesame contamination. They do not use any types of seeds in their facility but some of the ingredients they ship in MAY be made on equipment that also processes sesame and they do not test for it (since it is not a "top allergen" - grrr) so they do not know.

Bob's Red Mill said all their gluten free flours were processed on the same equipment as tree nuts so I thought I shouldn't risk it. Their non gluten-free stuff may be fine but my son is gluten intolerant, most probably a celiac so we have to do gluten free.

It's be very frustrating to find gluten-free and peanut/tree nut/sesame free stuff. I am starting to think it just doesn't exist. Maybe we should just go grain free too. Sigh.

Have you checked with Namaste Foods? http://www.namastefoods.com/

I have a vague memory of contacting them and inquiring about the use of seeds, but can't remember now. It's worth a look.
