Does anyone have any type of allergic symptoms from laundry soap or fabric softener?

In the last 5 years I have developed severe allergies to laundry detergent and fabric softener fragrances and unfortunately, just not using the offending products isn't enough to avoid reactions.

It seems as though over the last 3-5 years laundry detergent manufactures have increased the fragrances in their products exponentially from previous years. I remember not being able to even smell a persons laundry detergent unless their clothing was a couple inches from your nose, now the fragrance can be smelled from across a room or, at times, half way down a grocery aisle!

As if the fragrances were not already pungent enough, earlier this month Downey has introduced a new heavily-fragrenced product called Unstoppables which are perfumed beads that are added to ones wash which promise a "feisty fragrance" that lasts over a week.

In my opinion these fragrances have gotten out of control so I am wanting to hear other opinions.

Thanks!

My PA son get terrible eczema if I use anything with fragrances in it. We use All Free & Clear and he does fine. I've also used some sort of organic type I found at Sam's.

I agree, though, things have gotten very "smelly" lately. I like the smells but we have to avoid them to keep the eczema at bay.
