Peanut-Free/Nut-Free Directory
Our directory is intended as a resource for people with peanut and nut allergies. It contains foods, helpful products, and much more.
What advice do you give to your PA child going to live in a college dorm? How would you approach finding "safe" meals when the two options are a buffet in the cafeteria or the food court in the commons? (we do not eat in these settings now) How do you get dormmates to be understanding? Anyone had their PA young adult go off to college? How do you trust total strangers to give correct information and also trust them to recognize the symptoms of anaphylaxis and intervene? (I am extremely apprehensive, but know this is a part of life that each of us will eventually face.)
I will be dealing with this next school year. As my son has gotten information from colleges we have contacted the ones he is interested in to see how they deal with these situations. I am VERY nervous already about him going off to college. However, he will have to leave home at some point in time. As we get further into the whole college search I will hopefully know more.

Online Support Groups
Hi There,
My son is only 10 so it is not an issue with us yet. However, thier are people in my local support group that have had to deal with it. Do you have a 504 for your child? I believe it follows them through college. I would contact the student services office and see if you can meet with the food service director and come up with a plan. Good luck
