Hi, I just want to share our story about peanut oral immunotherapy that my severely allergic 6 year old son is undergoing. The reason for me writing this is the lack of information I was able to find when researching this topic. Of course there was plenty written from the media saying it has been successful and will be available widely in the future, but no personal experiences. So, just briefly, we started couple of weeks ago, with first dose of 0.1mg, gradually increasing up to today's dose of 25mg of peanuts. He experienced few very mild reactions of "weird feeling in mouth" but nothing more and not even that anymore! Basically, the treatment lasts about 6 months, with bi-weekly dr. visits where the doses are doubled, and the patient brings home enough doses to last him until next visit, which he eats daily at home. At the end he should be able to eat 3 peanuts with no reaction. I think it is amazingly easy, although quiet costly ($5000 at our office) but still worth it! Good luck everyone!
