Does anyone know what to do about candies packaged by Fritzie Fresh? I'm in the Midwest of the U.S. They seem to be a re-packager of candies by many manufacturers. You can get smallish cellophane bags of many different brands of candy, like Saf-T-Pops, Tootsie Rolls, and unbranded things like butterscotch hard candies and gumdrops. Every one of their packages has a warning, I think, that it's run on the same equipment as peanuts. And I'm sure they do run everything through the same bagging machines, and some candy is wrapped and some is unwrapped. I've read on the Saf-T-Pop website that their suckers are safe for people with PA, and I've read here that Tootsie Pops and Tootsie Rolls are fine. But are they still fine from those packages? Saf-T-Pops are sealed. And do we have to worry about what kind of package the Tootsie Pop came from when someone gives us one, when we know they're a safe candy? Do you suppose this is just legal safety for the company, or do you think that would be a real risk?

I saw similar repackaged items and made a note of it to share with school (if ds ever gets there) that something that is normally safe, now isn't. I take the warning seriously as I figure even if the inside sucker isn't contaminated, all I can picture is residue all over the pakgaging.
