We just got back from the allergist this morning and my ds' RAST scores are still dropping! He's still allergic to peanuts and eggs, but the score are 50% less....Here's his peanut scores:
3.3 ku/l at 22 mos
1.7 ku/l at 2.5 yrs
.9 ku/l at 3.5 yrs
His doctor seems very optimistic that he will outgrow it, but obviously can't promise anything. We're thrilled with the results! Nothing changes in our life, but it gives us more hope.
Just wanted to share the good news...

That is so exciting! My son gets tested for the second time in Feb. 2006. I'm scared that his scores will go up instead of down.

SOOOOOOOOOO great!!! You must be bursting with excitement. My 2 year old daughter's score went from 5.48 to 3.86 in a year so I'm very optimistic but I'm not counting on it by any means.
Are you doing anything like acidophilus? Has he had any reactions since the diagnosis?
Congratulations!!!!
DD (age 4) - allergic to peanuts, some tree nuts, egg whites, dogs, cats, environmental allergies
Thank you Julie, Darkmage, and dgood!
Darkmage - I had it in my head that the numbers would go up this year. I was so stressed about it, to the point that I would have preferred not to do it at all. It's such a waiting game!
dgood - That's a huge drop for your dd! All of the studies that throw out the "50% will outgrow it" say it applies to scores under 5 ku/L, so you must have felt good with it dropping below that number. We have not done any probiotics and I actually asked about them today. His allergist says that it's mostly for infants...I'd never heard that before, but then again, I don't know much about them. I'm pregnant, so I wanted to see if I should be taking them for the baby...she said no.
Thanks again the well wishes!

My PA & DA son was first tested in April of 2004. His peanut IGE came back at 2.67 KU/L, so I'm really hoping that he will outgrow it! But I'm also trying to make myself okay with the fact that he may have to deal with this his whole life too. His DA was at 3.97 KU/L. It sure would be nice if he out-grew that one too. *sigh*
