You don't have to have the medic alert one. They are a fine company and my daughter has one. Having said that my husband and I worked around public safety for years. We asked EMS workers about the bracelets and necklaces. They look for them - on wrists, ankles, and around the neck. But they don't call the 1 800 number and speak to your doctor. I think most pharmacies have bracelets you can have inscribed. You can list all allergies, that you carry and epi pen, doctors number, and whatever information you want.
My daughter is 3 and has worn one since she was about 13 months old. It started on her ankle but then I moved it to her wrist after getting a couple of links taken out to make it a bit smaller. I think it bothered her for about the first hour after I moved it to her wrist. Since then she doesn't even think about it.

Your DD may be too young for these bracelets, but they are an excellent product and the owners stand behind it.It is a Canadian site too.

I was confused also when I first ordered my daughters. You measure your child's wrist add a 1/2 inch (my daughter's wrist is 4 1/2 inches so I ordered a 5 inch braclet) As far as emblem size the petite is the smallest. The first bracelet I ordered was a small emblem- which was WAY to big for her- she wore it for a year until I smartened up and ordered a petite emblem (she is 2 1/2 now). It is perfect now! Also the medic alert CR are really helpful and if you call they will guide you through the process. Good Luck
