This was about smelling peanuts in the adult thread.
Does any one perceive it as smell of metal?
DD says when she smells strong odor of peanuts:
Her body freezes (contracts)
She becomes queasy
The nose gets dry and cold (like in winter)
Then she gets the sense of smelling metal
(like the smell a bunch of coins leaves on your hand after holding it)
She gets a really bad pain in her stomach
She then starts to throw up.

Dry and cold inside? Or on the outside like a dog?
If the latter, I'm going to have to add some new tricks to my diagnostics. )
Many people complain of a metallic taste when they have a reaction.

Whatever it is the smell of peanuts has always repulsed my son. From when he was very young and we knew nothing about his PA. Once we found out about his PA and finally when I learned it was a LFTA I realized that his aversion was some sort of protective mechanism.
Metal, not sure. He NEVER gets close enough to any form of peanut to determine that or maybe he does and I don't know.
In any case he smells peanuts his airway closes off like THAT!
