More questions... Do you only serve your kids dessert products that you have personally baked??
Do you eat desserts in restaurants?? Birthday parties? Bring your own dessert??
I guess you get my gist..
Thanks
Mom of dd age 10- allergic to peanuts, tree nuts and sesame
Restaurant desserts would be a no-no if we ever went.
Birthday parties? Ry brings his own food and cupcake, even for relatives parties. Or I'll volunteer my skills and bake/decorate a cake for the birthday child. I slice and serve the cake (with my own untensils) I make and keep it out of fingers reach from small kids until Ry gets his piece.
Holidays? I make all desserts and take a homemade dessert tray for Ryan with us when visiting.
I match all party treats for school too. It's really not that hard if I get a couple days notice.
I let him have milkshakes from Arby's and McDonalds, Frosty's from Wendy's, strawberry and hot fudge sundaes from McDonalds, vanilla cones from McDonalds.
I bake all his cakes, cookies, etc... and take cupcakes to b-day parties.
We have never let him have dessert in a sit down restaurant.

I'm like Ryan's mom with one exception. There are certain friends that I trust--they not only call to verify ingredients, they also practice super cleanliness when they know my son will be coming to their home to eat. I also trust my mom--she also verifies the ingredients and more and more, her shelves are looking like mine!
~ same as my bakery answer ~ up until recently, we did let my daughter eat desserts out and so did we...as long as no blatant peanut products were in the items. In fact, my dad made my daughter homemade breads with walnuts and other nuts for at least a year and a half - with no reaction whatsoever. I just now remembered that. Now we avoid all nuts. Sometimes I feel like her PA isn't real...with one reaction that involved getting peanut butter in her eyes and having them get red, and none other except for an atopic reaction on a skin test every time. The blood test for peanut allergy came back ZERO. Negative. At some point I will pursue getting another blood test...
We never get dessert in a restaurant with the exceptions of frostys at Wendys, ice cream at McDonalds.
Thats it.
My guy is still little, so doesn't even know "dessert" is a word. Once in a while I will make cookies as a special treat, but he's too little to be eating sweets on a regular basis yet. When he is, it will only be items I make .

I usually do not eat dessert when I am out. I also avoid most baked goods.
However, I do occasionally eat dessert when I have done enough checking that something is safe. For example, at Marche I eat waffles and crepes for dessert. Even the chocolate sauce is safe (Neilson).
But I rarely eat dessert.. ice cream is something I also avoid at restaurants unless they serve Chapmans.
I do eat some baked goods (ie: Front Street Market pies from Dominion, Entenmans (since I am not TNA- only PA) but most baked goods and desserts are off limits.
