A couple of years ago, I asked my mom for her traditional Christmas thumbprint cookie recipe. She added this one that used to be in my grandmother's box. I couldn't believe they never made these cookies, after we tasted them. They're delicious, but you have to feel comfortable using cherry gelatin. We only use Jello brand cherry and never have had any problems with it.
These cookies are a super, different variation on regular chocolate chip cookies. Originally the recipe was for plain Cherry Cookies, but we couldn't resist adding chocolate chips to this recipe.
Cherry Cookies or Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies
1 cp. Butter
1 cp. Sugar
1 pkg. (3 oz.) cherry-flavor gelatin
3 eggs
3 cps. Sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. Baking powder

Will try these cookies out in the next week. I have just bought jello as they had a sale on it and used strawberry flavour for a Fressh Strawberry Pie I made yesterday.
