My 2 year old daughter has a PA. They thought she might also have a soy allergy, but they forgot to give her the test for soy. We are going back tomorrow for the soy, I PRAY that she isn't!! We've been treating her as if she is allergic to soy "just in case" and its in EVERYTHING! Well, anyway, she once had a reaction to country crock spread. She got hives wherever it had come into contact with her skin. Does anyone know anything about country crock spread? Was her reaction to it because of her PA or maybe it was soy or something else?
By they way, this is the best website for parents!!!! Its the only place thast I've been able to get A LOT of good information, and real advice!!! Keep up the good work!!!

i believe i did not get a good answer from country crock last year. there are just too many things in it, arent they?? using just regular butter is easier. we use kellers. sometimes kids get redness from salt, ketchup, red sauce, vinegar. i dont know how bad the hives you are talking about were. my son tested positive for soy but the allergist said not to worry about it because he tasted chinese food before?? i dont give him soy protein but let him eat soy oils. he tested high for peanuts and low to tree nuts and sesame seeds. we avoid all. i also limit egg because that came up too. he use to eat them all the time, doesnt care for them now. allergist said dont worry about it but we do limit it.

the hives were pretty bad. Her lips didn't swell or anything, but her whole face was one giant hive. And where it had dropped on her belly she had big ones as well. I wasn't sure what had caused the reaction so I put all the foods of our meal on different parts of her body and she instantly hived at the country crock spread. It was scary, because at this point we knew of the PA and "thought" we were taking precautions. We used a safe conflakes to bread the chicken because she had a reaction to 4C's bread crumbs. I checked but the label on country crock doesn't say anything about peanut. Just when we thought we had a handle on this..... But I guess I just have to learn to take these things in stride.

maybe she is also sesame seed. try using matzo meal for breading. we used kelloggs before too. i like it better than shake and bake. use things with few ingredients and call if there are flavorings, spices, etc. i know they shouldnt be hidden now but Atreat soda uses a tiny amount of brominated nut oils and its not on package. good luck

well, we went to the allergist and she's NOT allergic to soy. Thank heavens!!! But this country crock spread is still bothering me........ that there's maybe another hidden thing. Is it possible for one PA kid to be fine with it and another to have a reaction?

thanks, i've been trying to get in the habit of just making everything by hand, so I know its safe. matzo meal- i'd never thought of that, it probably needs to be seasoned though

yes you can add parm. cheese, garlic powder, parsley. we use mccormick, they dont have nuts, they do sell a jar of sesame seeds but they clean in between runs. you can also use fresh parsley, that would be good.

My daughter was messing around and put a small glob of country crock butter on my sons cheek. He is almost 3. It was on maybe a couple of minutes if that. I wiped it off and it was a purplish red color where the butter was. We just thought it was weird. I today when making cheese sandwiches decided to put some country crock on his cheek to see if it would happen again, sure enough, it did. Has anyone ever seen this happen and should I be concerned as to what it might be doing to his insides? Of course I will be asking his Dr but was curious if anyone else heard of this happening. Thanks!
