Does anyone know if there is a candy that is PA/TNA safe as well as safe for someone with a Corn allergy? We just found out that my dd also has an allergy to Corn Syrup and Corn Starch. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!

Hi! My dd and ds also have corn allergy (among others) so we have dealt with the same issues wrt safe candy. Corn syrup seens to be in everything. We did actually find some but now ds is allergic to sugar too so we haven't had any candy in the house at all for a while so I can't remember what it was exactly. It was some sort of gummy. The next time I see it again, I will take note of what it is and post it here. BTW, are you in Canada or US? I live in Canada so that may make a difference if you live in US.

Candy related holidays are difficult. We have found that Mentos and Extra gum are safe for our dd. She is allergic to peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat, gluten, corn, red 40 and melon. Another option is to find maple sugar candy. Cracker Barrel restaurants carry maple sugar candies and rock candy on a stick that should be safe for your family. I've heard the maple sugar candy is simple to make. Haven't tried it yet.

Hi! I am in the US. The only candy that I could find was St Clairs Organic Sweets. Thank You for the other information on the gum and the mentos. Anyone with anymore information I will appreciate it. Thanks

My DS has been okay with Hershey Kisses and Hershey bars - they have vanillin which is made from corn but he doesn't seem to react. If you can find them, I believe Sixlets are safe also, but haven't found them in a long time so be sure to double check the label. Bobs soft peppermints (you can get a big box at Sam's or bags of sticks at Cracker Barrel) are just sugar and peppermint.

Rebekah- I know this post is old but wondered are the Bobs soft peppermints safe? I saw these at the Market and thought they would be perfect for my dd but I wasn't sure of there safety for PA/TNA. Thanks for any information you can give me.

I have not called to verify the safety of the Bob's but we eat them frequently with no problems (both DS and I are PA). I believe the only thing they make are peppermint type candies - the hard version does have corn in it so be sure to get the soft. I noticed an earlier poster had said Extra gum was safe for corn - be sure to double check the label in your area because here all the gum I can find has corn in it. I think the Extra in our area has maltitol (sp?) which is a corn product. You also should watch out for sucrose, sucralose, glucose, fructose, dextrose etc. My understainding is that usually the -ose sweeteners are derived from corn. We can't even let DS have a glucose IV - lactated ringers seem to be corn free for IV fluids.

Sorry if I gave you too much info
