I'm relatively new, so I would understand if people don't feel this is totally trustworthy. Yesterday, at library story time, the librarian handed us a shrink-wrapped, decorated, Valentine cookie. There is always a snack at story time and the librarian has been wonderful about saving labels for me to check. I also bring a back-up snack in case she misses something. Anyway, the cookies for the other children were "may contains" from a local bakery and she new my daughter couldn't have them. I think she was disappointed when I didn't feed the cookie to my daughter right then, but it was a company I wasn't familiar with so I wanted to double check their labeling first.

When I got home I called and was told that, within the last year all their facilities had become peanut free. The company is Color A Cookie. I was very comfortable with the woman I talked to on the phone. We ended up letting my daughter eat the cookie with no problem. Baked goods are such and issue, I was really happy to find something she was able to have.

I wrote the librarian a note today, explaining why we didn't eat the cookie immediately, thanking her for her thoughtfulness, and sharing how much my daughter loved it.

The company website is:

Unfortunately the nutrition link doesn't seem to be working right now, but I wanted to pass this along in case it was helpful to anyone else.

-Kelsey

P.S. I think the cookies that you actually color on (just the idea of it) are kind of gross, the hand decorated ones are what we had!

I was able to see the nutrition information...I had to unblock pop-ups to get it. On their site it says it may contain peanuts and tree nuts. Have they not updated their site?

Looks like fun for kids! It has egg in it though, so it's out for us.

I'll see if I can link the nutrition info here...it's a pdf and I haven't a clue how to do that.

I don't know how to do it, but here's the link if someone else can figure it out. You have to allow pop-ups, and then two windows open...and mine asked permission to close the one blank one. When I did the other window opened with the option to download the PDF. Hope that makes sense.

Hopefully their site is just old...both the color-in ones and hand decorated ones list peanuts/tree nuts as may contains.

Since the website looks like it may not have been updated since 2005, I think the woman I spoke with is probably correct. The label listed wheat, soy, and milk, but did not have a may contain statement, leading me to believe they have updated since the website info was posted. Having said that, I would probably call to double check before giving to DD again.

This might work but since it hasn't been updated it's kind of a moot point.

I think this brand of cookies is sold in one of the grocery stores here, so I emailed them.

I saw these in the store the other day and they had a "may contain" statement????
However, I also saw these at Christmas and there was no warning. Maybe, some of the cookies have old labels or something.

I will re-check, I may have the wrong cookie.

Has anyone else been able to contact this company? They never replied to my email and their site has not been updated.

I called the number on the website posted, and it was answered by a recording for a company called Clever Cookie and it stated that their website is http://www.clevercookie.com . I went to that site and there is no nutrition info whatsoever, and no info about any cookies sold in grocery stores. When I called the recording gave several menu options and immediately after the last one, it said "goodbye" and disconnected. None of the options was to speak with a representative. I figure we can live without these cookies and their nonexistent customer service. BTW I never did hear back from them after I emailed.

We recently bought a few of these cookies. I called and spoke to a customer service rep who assured me that they were made in a nut free facility. My PA/TNA dd ate one of these cookies last weekend with no problems.
The number I called is 1800-551-0020. It is the number listed on the actual cookie packaging. There is also another number (not toll free though) 516-349-0077.

ETA: She actually didn't like the cookie though--neither did my 2 non pa dd's. It was really, really hard. Maybe it was just old?? The expiration date on the packaging said 3/2008...

Ok- I just called the 1800 number I listed above to re-check info since I don't remember how recently I called. They did answer as Clever Cookie. The woman stated they have been Clever Cookie for 15 years and Color a Cookie is a division of theirs. I was again told that the cookies are now made in a totally nut free facility with nut free ingredients.

I have no idea. I only inquired about the cookies that are sold in our area labeled Color a Cookie.

Yesterday I called the number listed above that is on the back of the package and was told that their facility is nut-free. PA DS ate a Goofy cookie and other than major frosting dye stains on his face, had no problems.
