Just wanted to let those of you near Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky know that my husband and I took our 2 1/2 yr. old PA daughter to the Aquarium on Friday and found a restaurant that is safe at Newport on the Levee. I asked the hostess to check their oils and products and she called the kitchen, she assured me they only fry in canola oil and even though the kids menu is very small (grilled cheese and chicken fingers) she assured us that there were no peanut products in or used to prepare the food. After she sat us at our table the restaurant manager came over and again said he double checked with the kitchen and the chef said that the items for kids would be safe and if I had concerns or questions about any other dish he would be glad to go back and check.
The menu really didn't have anything with obvious nuts in it anyway (except of course, desserts). We had a great dinner and it was nice to know that the manager and hostess both checked and double checked with the kitchen to assure my daughters food was going to be safe. Their phone number is 859-581-8888.
The best part is on a nice day they also have indoor and outdoor seating right on the river looking over to the Cincinnati skyline. I'll keep it on our "special" places to go list as a treat once and a while!!

Well, we have eaten at this restaurant several times and my daughter has eaten there twice. We had spoken to the manager on each trip and felt comfortable about his response as the cook came out both times and assured us that they only use soy oil and butter to cook with and that there were no nuts in except for the salad and they would pay special attention to our order to insure it not get cross contaminated....I thoght I would check with corporate and this is the response I got....we will have to think twice about returning to this restaurant. I know it is a "May contain" kind of warning, but it makes me nervous....

Good Morning Sara,
I'm glad you and your husband have enjoyed eating at The Claddagh, and we value your business. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that there are no nut products used in the kitchens. Although our oils may be soy in most cases, substitutions are sometimes made. We do use pine nuts in some of our recipes.

I'm sorry we could not be of further assistance, but we would hate to put your daughter in any kind of health risk.

Thank you for your interest in The Claddagh Irish Pubs, have a wonderful weekend with your family.

Hmmm, I didn't see this first time around.

We have eaten at Claddagh many times. The kids love it! I love the atmosphere, the food is great (although portions are enormous), and service excellent.

We are extremely comfortable with this restaurant and have never experienced any reactions of any kind.

Hope this helps!
