I've been feeding my pa child cheetos forever. Tonight, I was preparing a list of safe snacks for school and looked at Frito Lay's website and found this:

Products That May Contain Peanuts or Tree Nuts

Last updated June 9, 2006
CHEETOS

Very interesting! I don't know what Doritoes crackers are though. Or Cheetos crackers for that matter either. I thought Frito Lay products were safe! My boys love Doritoes. If you find anything out, please do post.

That is for all the crackers. The chips are all fine. Frito Lay labels very well and will put it on package. Hope that helps.

This was just discussed recently-apparently it's a source of confusion for a lot of people. They are talking about the crackers-they are like sandwich crackers. Some have cheese crackers w/ PB inside, some are plain crackers w/ cheese inside. They all have a may contain warning on their labels.

Yes, the crackers are sandwich crackers, and usually found right next to the PB crackers in the store. All the chips, except kettle cooked, are fine. Interstingly, the kettle cooked are labeled as may contains for peanut oil, but there are no Frito-Lay chips that actually contain peanut oil. I guess the equipment is shared with some other brand.

Are there really Doritoes crackers? I've never seen any Frito Lay crackers at all. Maybe my location... Glad the chips are fine. My boys would stage a revolt if I didn't buy Nacho Cheese Doritoes occasionally!

Thanks for the clarification. I haven't ever seen these crackers and didn't know such thing existed.

Makes me wonder if I'm completely clueless or if I just pass right by things like that because I know they won't be safe.

Thanks!!!!
Patty

You probably don't even look. They are right with the PB crackers, so you would only look there if you can buy PB. I actually do buy PB crackers for my non-PA DD to take with her to school.

I called Frito Lay today and was told that the chips and cheetos are safe. The crackers are made elsewhere and are not safe. I have never seen them.

Only in the USA. Miss Vickies potato chips are safe in Canada as they are cooked in vegetable oil.
