Well, our son's Cap Rast results are in and they are a 2.28. This is his history:
1. 1-2 hives on face twice at ages 10 mos and a little over a year.
2. Tested positive to peanuts via skin test at age 18 mos.
3. Cap Rast of 13.38 between ages 18 mos and 2 yrs.
4. Cap Rast of 3.02 at age 4 1/2.
5. Cap Rast of 2.28 at age 5 1/2.
6. Strict diet of no peanuts or any nuts.
Do you think these results are promising or not? Am I wrong to feel slightly pleased? We will continue to do what we're doing and plug along with no peanuts or nuts. Our dr's appt is not for another few weeks and I was only able to get results from nurse. She said his results are still basically the same as the last time (still class 2).
Anyone have a history similar to this?
By the way, we do avoid tree nuts. However, I used to feed him almonds and walnuts before he tested pos to peanuts. We then had him skin tested for tree nuts and he came up positive to all. Then, subsequently we had him RAST tested and he tested neg for all. Then skin tested again and tested neg to all but black and Eng walnuts, brazil nuts and pecans. Confusing, I know. The dr said he expects he should be able to consume all tree nuts by his teens. We'll see.
Thanks so much!

I agree, a lowering number-rast is promising, or at least nice ot see. We've gone from 50 to 31(he's now 6) so I never really was hopeful he'd outgrow it, just not have any problems...I'd take a 2.28 anyday!!! So I would be happy(not sure if that is the word, a negative would make me HAPPY...but a lowering rast score would too, I guess!!)
Still avoid, like you're doing...good luck!!

Oh, I forgot to add that my DS is allergic to kiwi, too. Much easier to avoid than peanuts/nuts, but can be tricky sometimes, too.
