DD had a CAP RAST done last Friday and I called the allergist this morning to get the results. She was tested for peanut and a long list of tree nuts. Imagine my shock and joy when the nurse pulled up DD in the computer and said these words, "it says here a big fat nothing." The results were <.10 and the Immunocap was done at IBT in Kansas. I am still trying to grasp this, while not getting my hopes up too soon.
We will go on August 15th for a skin test and possible challenge. If she doesn't react to the skin test, we'll challenge her that day. If she does react, we'll wait until next year and do the whole process over.
A little background--DD reacted shortly after turning two when she ate half of a peanut butter cookie from a deli. She had hives above her lip that went away within about 1/2 hour. She tested positive on the skin test (wheal 5/ flare 25). She was not blood tested at that time. She has outgrown an egg allergy previously.
We have followed very strict avoidance since the diagnosis and she has not had any other reactions.
The allergist said she has never had a patient test negative who had actually reacted to peanuts previously. She seemed very surprised and even double checked that the results had been read in Kansas.
We had so many people praying for us, including many of you on here, so thanks. My specific prayer was for test results of 0 and for the doctor to be baffled by the results. I also prayed that I would be able to deal with whatever the results turned out to be.
Just wanted to give everyone some hope and share the good news. Please continue praying for us that the skin test will be negative and she'll pass the challenge.
Thanks!

WOW...that is fabulous! Keep us updated about the challenge. I will be thinking of you...my DS will also have a challenge next month!
That is good news. I did the same with PA and all other nuts with the Blood test...tested all across the board.
My Scratch Test, however, showed a "3" on PA only. God does work miracles though. I'm thinking to get a 2nd opinion on the Scratch Test, just to have a piece of mind.
That's great news!!!! Keep us updated on how the scratch test/food challenge goes!
Thanks everyone! Precious1971, how old were you when you developed PA? What was your initial reaction, was the skin test of 3 the first one you had done?
Also, does the 1971 in you screen name mean you were born in 1971? I was too!
Shannon
That's fantastic news.
My DD is also getting her RAST results on Wednesday. The skin test was not very conclusive (a tiny +1). I'm so hoping that she will score low!
I'm praying too...
