ALLERGY ALERT - UNDECLARED PEANUT, MILK AND SOY
PROTEINS AND SULPHITES IN ENERGY SNACK BARS
OTTAWA,March 18, 2003 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and
JMK Manufacturing Inc. are warning consumers with allergies to peanut
and/or soy and/or milk proteins and/or sensitivities to sulphites not to
consume the energy snack bars listed below. These products may contain
peanut and/or soy and/or milk proteins and/or sulphites which are not
declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who have
allergies to peanut and/or soy and/or milk proteins and/or sensitivities to
sulphites.

The manufacturer, JMK Manufacturing Inc., Richmond Hill, Ontario, is
voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. These
products are known to be distributed in British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec,
Nova Scotia and may have been distributed nationally.
Consumption of these products may cause a serious or life-threatening
reaction in persons with allergies to peanut and/or soy and/or milk proteins
and/or sensitivities to sulphites. There have been no reported illnesses
associated with the consumption of these products.
