I emailed Campbells Soup yesterday, and here is their reply:October 5, 2000

Ms. Carrie McKernie, we received your message and appreciate your taking the
time to contact Campbell Soup.

Thank you for taking the time to inquire about our Campbell Soup Company
product. We appreciate your interest in Campbell Soup Company.

Because the FDA recognizes peanuts/tree nuts as one of the 10 major allergens,
both Pepperidge Farm and The Campbell Soup Company will clearly list peanuts in
the ingredient statement on every package.

Since product ingredients change frequently, we are unable to maintain current
lists of products which do not contain certain ingredients. Please refer to the
ingredient statement on each package for the most up to date information.

Thank you for visiting the Campbell Soup web-site.
Though it's probably read from a card, it sounds good enough for me.
We can eat Pepperidge Farm bread, Goldfish and Cookies! Hooray!

Don't forget - not Chex Mix, though. Ooops, I was confused I meant the Snack Mix.

and don't forget that some pepperigde farm cookies do have nuts, and they are listed on the package.
My daughter lately has been particularly fond of the "Chessman" type Pepperidge Farm Cookies. THey are kind of like sugar cookies but a bit firmer.

My favorite Pepperidge Farm cookies are Brussels. They're delicious! I also like Milanos. I've never had a problem before with any Pepperidge Farm products, but I just thought I'd see. Isn't it great that we can eat Pepperidge Farm and Campbells soup? Take care!

Hummmmm, I'm a little confused! I had contacted Campbell's re: their soup when I first found out about Wade's PA over a year ago. I did this because many of their soups contain HPP (hydrolized plant protein). HPP was one of the things our allergist had warned us about as it can be peanut based. The response I received from Campbell's was less than helpful. I was told at the time that it was "proprietary information"!!! I went on to explain that I needed to know because of my son's PA, and I received the same response! Well, as you can imagine, we no longer buy their soups! Has something changed?? Are they now willing to divulge the source of their HPP?? I'd love to find out!

Thanks!

This is what happened to us about a year ago.
I found a piece of a stem like thing in Austins Campbells vegetarian vegi soup, Iv'e always wondered about their soup since I have found this site. Anyway, I sent it in and all they would tell me was that it was a piece of woody plant material that they couldn't identify. Maybe it was a peanut stem they might have used for hpp. Even it it wasn't, it's still scary that they can't even identify it.
