Blooming Import Inc. Recalls "Soft Candy" Due to Undeclared Peanuts
Brooklyn, NY - February 22, 2002 -- Blooming Import located at 45 Bowne Street, Brooklyn, NY 11231 is recalling its 10.5oz packages of "Soft Candy" containing the codes: 08062002, 08252002, 08192002 because they may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled "Soft Candies" were distributed nationwide in retail stores. The product comes in a 10.5 oz. clear package.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered during a routine inspection conducted by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets that the peanut-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. Distribution of the product has been suspended until the company is certain that the problem has been corrected.
Consumers who have purchased 10.5 oz. packages of "Soft Candies" are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 718-625-6868.
