I am posting this as a warning to all of you who take your kids to the beach. My son is 2 and we found out that he was peanut allergic about a year ago. This summer, i took him to the beach every day. At the beginning, to maximize my tan, i was using a dark tanning suntan oil. I couldnt figure out why after a little while at the beach my sons face and hands got puffy. I was thinking that maybe his skin was sensitive to his sunscreen, so we switched brands a few times. I thought he was allergic to the sun, the sand, the salt water, i just couldnt figure it out. Well, after reading my bottle of oil very carefully, i noticed that it contained peanut oil, and since i had been holding my son, and interacting with him, he got sensitive to it and was having mild reactions. When i stopped using it, the red puffiness stopped. I think that the particular brand was NO-AD, but after reading labels on a bunch of brands, i noticed that a lot of them contain peanut oil. Also, i have heard conflicting stories about whether or not peanut oil is in fact an allergen or not... After this incident, i now belive that at least with my son, it is.
