Bad Pharmacy/Recall Experiences

The recent recall of ana kits reminded me of the horrible experience we had trying to return a recalled epi. We had been carrying around a recalled epi because the pharmacy flat out lied to us and even later kept insisting it wasn't recalled. Dey even got involved to no avail.
If you have had a bad experience with pharmacies or recalled meds please contact me off list. This will be in my next column if I get responses.
Thanks
Donna

Hi Donna,

You may want to call a few major pharmacy chains. I was calling them to see if they had learned of the alert on the Ana Kits etc. and even days after the recall some had not heard about it yet. Also of the ones that did, each one had different information about it so you may want to find out why. Some possibilities you may want to look into:

Are they only alerted if they had been shipped some of the recalled product?

Does the "main office" send out to their chain stores in their own codes? (Of the chain stores which we called, owned by different companies, they all had different product numbers etc. regarding the recall. Non of the numbers matched any of the other companies numbers!)

Possibly if you could do some research into how this type of recall is published etc. we could work to make it safer.

The pharmacists whom I spoke to did not know how the recalls were handled by their companies or how they received them originally etc.
