How many of us here participate in a Support Group outside of this forum?
If you are a member of one, did you start it?
Is the group you belong to affiliated with any National Group?
Do you find there is strength in numbers when dealing with issues in your community?
I am thinking of starting a local group - I've already started a "Twins Club" and I really enjoy it. But I'm thinking that before I started a PA group, I would need to have a more specific "Purpose" in mind, and maybe even a Mission Statement. I live in a small enough community that I think I could probably get a story ran in the paper about starting the club - maybe even run it during Allergy Awareness Week next month? There is only one Asthma & Allergy group of doctors in the area, so I could post something there on their BB board....
Any other ideas on how to get a good group going?

Online Support Groups
I'm a co-leader of the Seattle area support group. It's for all food allergies, not just peanuts, though. I know we have at least one member of our 80 member e-mail group that lives in Idaho. If I have your permission I will pass along your e-mail address to her if you'd like (obviously I don't know how close in Idaho you guys are to each other but you still might want to join forces). Are you close to Spokane? I know they have a group - the website is http://home.attbi.com/~ifast/
Our FEAST (Food Education Allergy Support Team) group is affiliated with Asthma and Asthma Foundation of America - have you seen their site? www.aafa.org There have added lots of information recently - Here's their link about starting a group http://www.aafa.org/templ/display.cfm?id=311&sub=317
(If the link doesn't work - go to the www.aafa.org main page and click on the left where it says AAFA support groups and "start a group" will drop down)
