Are hives in mouth or throat possible?

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this. My daughter has recently had unexplained hives pop up in odd places on her body.
Yesterday she was suddenly extrememly irritable for 5 minutes and complained of something being in her throat. (She hadn't had any food for hours). Then hives popped up on the bags of her eyes. I gave her benadryl and everything including the mood was fine.
I was just wondering hives in her throat were possible.
Breathing was always fine.

I'm not sure if it was exactly hives, but I've had some swelling in my throat with some reactions. Sometimes it feels like something is caught in my throat. If it's just a bit of swelling it doesn't always have an obvious affect on my breathing.

I would always consider this very serious.

This is definitely possible. During my dd's last reaction about a month or so ago, she said her throat and mouth felt funny so I looked in and she had hives on her tongue and I assume in her throat and thats why it felt funny. The doc in the er said that it is not as common to have hives on the tongue but it does happen in some cases. He also told us to take this very seriously and administer the epi right away because of the potential for the airway swelling shut.
