Thanks,

Hello glad to hear from you. I work in Franklin and have for several years, but we actually live in Murfreesboro. Our son is almost 3 (Sept.) and we found out about his allergy at 13 months. Our son attends a private daycare in Franklin and has been there since he was about 7 months. They are great! We should talk:)
Hi, there.
I live in Franklin, too! My dd is 6 and was diagnosed with a peanut allergy about a year ago. I learned alot from this site also. She has been allergic to egg since 1 yr, but peanut is a whole different ballgame for us.
Which preschool does your child go to? My dd attended Step Forward at age 4.
Jo
Hi Jo,
How has your child's elementary school been? Does she go to FSSD or Williamson County? Also, how did the preschool handle her allergies? We're still so new to this, I'm not sure what to expect.
Glad to hear from someone else! We should all get together for coffee sometime. I would love to speak with other Mothers that can actually relate to this whole thing. What do you think? Would you girls be interested.
My son goes to Sweet Beginings on 4th Ave.
MichelleM -- My dtr goes to Liberty Elementary in the FSSD. They are great! The school is not peanut free, but they will make the classroom peanut free. My dd's teacher makes all the children wash their faces and hands when they get to school and after lunch. My dd sits at the peanut free table, which she likes because all her friends want to sit with her. I think sometimes the other parents have trouble understanding a little bit, which I can sympathize with because I didn't either until I lived it. However, they are always very nice.
If I remember correctly, Step Forward was peanut free. We only avoided back then, but they were really great with her allergies.
Hollya-That's a great idea! I would love to get together. Send me a PM and we'll work out the details.
JO
Holly,
That sounds like a great idea. I would love to talk in person. Let me know what's good for you.
Hey girls I am still figuring this website out, so I will send a PM as soon as I can. I am so excited to meet you both! Or if you can PM me hopefully I can respond. Sorry:)
Yeah, I'm having trouble with the PM too. I clicked on your user name and it gives me the option of sending a pm, but there is nothing on that page. I'll contact the moderator and see if I'm missing something.
Great, I thought it was just something I was doing. I am expecting (due today), however I will continue to check in as I would love to get together:)
Oh, wow! Congratulations! That's so great. I wish you the best. Please keep in touch and let us know about the little one!
Jo
Hi all I am in TN also but a bit further away. I just wanted to add my dd attended kindergarten last year. I was able to get a 504 designation for her at her school and from there we developed her IHP which goes into class room accomidations, feild trips, hand washing ect. You all may already know this but TN put into place last year Guidelines for dealing with life threatening allergies in school. Here is a link to where it can be found. Guidlines for life threatening allergies in Tennessee schools or visit the Tennesse Department of Education site and type in food allergies in the search window at the bottom of the page and it will dirrect you to the link.
I debated as to if I should or shouldnt get 504 designation for my daughter. The school seemed willing enough to try to work with me but I felt like it would be better to get everythinh in writing and be on the same page. The school staff have been wonderful but we have had a few hiccups along the way and it has been very helpful to have this list of accomidations to refer back to and get everyone back on track. It also allows me to request meetings with all of dd's teachers to prepare for each upcoming year. So far so good.
Hello, I am back at work now. Our little one is six weeks old today. I still can't seem to figure out the personal message, but would love to get together with you girls for coffee.

Hi,
We live in Franklin, Tn. My 2 yo was just diagnosed with PA about a month ago, so we are still learning huge amounts. I recently decided to stay home with him for a while and pulled him from day care around the same time he was diagnosed. What have your experiences with preschools/elementary schools in this area been like?
