UPDATE - ALLERGY ALERT - UNDECLARED PEANUTS AND NUTS IN COCK BRAND MATSAMAN CURRY PASTE
OTTAWA, May 11, 2005 - The public warning issued on May 9, 2005 has been updated to include additional allergy and product distribution information. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is warning people with allergies to peanuts and nuts not to consume Cock Brand Matsaman Curry Paste described below. The affected product may contain peanuts and nuts which are not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals with allergies to peanuts and nuts.
The affected product, Cock Brand Matsaman Curry Paste, a product of Thailand, is sold in a 1 kg package bearing UPC 84909 00382.
The importer is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The affected product has been distributed in Alberta and may have been distributed nationally.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening reaction in persons with allergies to peanuts and nuts. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.
The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
