Question of the Week: Answered!

Every week, PeanutAllergy.com answers one of the questions posted in our community.

Our Answer:

Thank you for reaching out with your question. We all know caring for a child with food allergies can be tough, and the stress and fear is amplified when you can’t be there to help them in situations such as these.

However, it is important to know that while your son may have to take extra precautions, he can certainly thrive in a college environment. We were lucky enough to speak with a college student who’s doing just that; you can read a little about her experiences here.

Flovent has been discussed a few times on our community boards. From looking over these forums (you can view a few here, here, and here), the consensus seems to be that Flovent is effective in reducing asthma flareups with minimal side effects. That said, it will be important for your son to communicate with his college’s physician if he does begin to experience anything negative.

We hope this information is helpful, and that your son enjoys the rest of his school year!
