My son is 23 months and has a peanut allergy.. RAST and Skin showed positive at 6 months, and negative at 17 months, but he failed a peanut challenge. He got hives from head to toe from eating peanut butter.
He has had only one reaction, and it was to eating an egg roll from a chinese restaurant. It was made with peanut butter. He got hives around his mouth and had 2 bouts of loose stools.
Last month he accidentally got a hold of and ate 3 peanut M$M's with no reaction.
Is it possible he is only allergic to Peanut butter?
Allegies are "all or none". What that means is either you react to an allergen or you do not. The severity of the reaction is another issue. What happened to your PA child is unknown as any amount of peanut should have evolked a reaction.

Hi Jessy121903 -
I would think that if someone was allergic to peanuts, it would be to all peanut products.
Before my sons diagnosis, he had his strongest reactions to peanut butter (he would complain that his mouth burned - this was his only symptom). With peanuts, he would either spit them out, or stop at one, but he wouldn't usually complain about them affecting him in any way.
I don't know if this helps you in any way, but that's what we have experienced.
