Since peanuts are not true nuts, but are actually a member of the legume family, some PA individuals may suffer a cross-reaction after eating, for example, split pea soup.
Not all PA individuals are affected by other legumes (my daughter has no problem) but sometimes a reaction can occur that doesn't seem to have an explanation, since peanuts weren't ingested. Here is a list of legumes that may cause problems, if the PA individual has the tendency to react to other legumes besides peanuts:
1. Legumes are the seeds of plants of the family Fabaceae, previously known as Leguminosae. The family is large and contains species that can grow in most soils and climates. Legumes include: dried beans, dried peas, lentils, peanuts, soya beans, bean sprouts.
2. Beans, properly called "legumes" have been a source of good nutrition for more than 10,000 years. Some common types are chickpeas, lentils, black, red and navy beans. They
Under beans I think I would add string beans ("wax beans," &/or "pole beans") -- both green & yellow.
Great list!

Lupine beans (and lupine flour) have been known to cause severe reactions in pa individuals.

I am so happy to see this list. I was hoping to do a search for this exact information, but it seems the "search" option won't be available for a few days.
Emily has been getting small red dots by her lower lip while eating. I'm not positive that a legume has been part of her meal each time this has happened, but I know on at least a couple of occasions it has. I'm going to take them out of her diet for a couple of weeks and see what happens.
I had a general idea what to avoid, but will print out your list as a reference. Thanks!
