Our Nut Free Family Trip

I hope everyone had a safe Easter, I am pleased to say we survived our trip away to Northern Queensland. Kane had been anxious for a few days prior to us going and after reassuring him we would find the nearest hospital once we arrived at our apartment he was happy.

For those who haven’t been to Australia you can be on the road for hours before you see any sign of life, so it is imperative that you have enough “safe” food just in case the worst happens.  I had been baking for days prior to us going and when it came to packing up the car I wasn’t sure if we’d get it all in, Rod stood there looking at his fishing gear and my Esky full of food and I could see what was going through his mind!….Needless to say I won!

Once we arrived at the apartment, I put all the cooking utensils, plates, pots and pans in the dishwasher, just to be on safe side as you never know if someone had eaten a Peanut butter sandwich and just put the plate back! I then had a quick wipe around, making sure I cleaned the remote control for the TV!

After unpacking we set off to find the nearest hospital, which I am glad to say was only 20 minutes away so it was smiles all round!

We had a great few days and then Easter Day came, I gave the boys their Easter Eggs, which were Nut Free and Kane refused to eat them, they were from Kinnerton and had Nut Free stamped all over them, he had eaten them before, but we have had a real battle this year with Kane trusting the food that he eats.  After getting the website up on the internet and showing him they were made in a dedicated Nut Free Factory he tried a small piece.

All in all we had a great trip, I have to say I was glad to be home as it does take it out of you constantly thinking what they can and can’t eat and planning ahead all the time, it’s nice to come home to my “safe” place!
